Affordable broadband number one issue for Vermont’s future
The Vermont Council on Rural Development (VCRD) recently announced its draft report for the Vermont Proposition Project, a statewide exploration of the question: What do Vermonters need to do in the next three years to be successful for the next generation? The 26-page report intends to focus energies towards solutions to the most pressing issues facing Vermont.
Top of the list?
Ensure affordable high-speed broadband and cellular access for all to promote community connection and commerce.
Paul Costello, longtime director of the VCRD, led the effort to crystalize commonly understood issues. “Rather than try to take a political position on one side or another, our job is to be a center point that looks at what common ground we may have, and what are some of the starting points we could work on together,” Costello said. “We’re here to listen and learn.”
